Matthias Korch graduated with a diploma in computer science from the University Halle/Wittenberg, Germany, in 2001. Since 2002 he is a research associate in the group "Parallel and distributed systems" at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. He completed his doctorate in 2006 and his habilitation in 2014. His research interests include parallel and distributed computing with an emphasis on solution methods for ordinary differential equations and task-based load balancing techniques. New research directions also include dynamic auto-tuning techniques for time-stepping methods to obtain an automatic adaptation to the memory hierarchy of processor architectures.
